Contextual AI Actions
The AI Assistant offers contextual actions in the left gutter (expand with the sparkles control) plus the main Assistant chat button at the bottom. Actions change based on your current view and project state.
Left gutter layout
From top to bottom on most story views:
- Sparkles / chevron — expand or collapse action labels
- Contextual actions — view-specific (see below)
- Learning center (lightbulb) — tutorials and walkthrough videos (separate from AI chat)
- Assistant (round button) — open chat or voice
While a long AI job runs (including Story Wizard Build), the Assistant button may show a progress ring and a small cancel control. Use Abort in the wizard panel to stop a wizard build cleanly.
What "contextual" means
Actions depend on:
- current view (Script Editor vs Board vs Production)
- whether script, scenes, shots, and images exist
- whether another AI operation is already running
- plan limits and story lock state
Ciaro surfaces the next likely step instead of one giant tool list.
Typical progression
script → scenes → shots → images
Or for new projects: Story Wizard → review → refine
Script Editor gutter actions
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| AI wizard | Open Story Wizard; Resume wizard if build still running |
| Analyze script | Guided Script Analysis (format, scenes, optional shots) |
| Find / Update scenes | Scene detection wizard |
| Find characters | Character detection |
| Format story | Dialogue formatting |
| Structure | Story structure panel |
| Ghostwriter | Inline writing suggestions (Tab to accept) |
Analyze script is recommended when the script has text but no scenes yet. After Story Wizard completed, use targeted actions — not full analysis again.
Board / Preview Flow gutter actions
| Action | Purpose |
|---|---|
| AI wizard / Resume wizard | Same as Script Editor |
| Shot detection (scene / all) | Break scenes into shots |
| Images / Fill gaps | Batch-generate storyboard images |
| Other structure helpers | Depends on project state |
Chat and actions together
- Click an action when the next step is obvious.
- Open Assistant chat when you need explanation, tradeoffs, or troubleshooting.
Ask in chat: "Should I use Story Wizard or Analyze script?" — the assistant should recommend wizard for new blank projects and analysis for editor-first or import workflows.
Simple rule
If the gutter shows AI wizard and you just created a project, that is usually the right starting point. If the gutter shows Resume wizard, a build is still running — open it to see progress rather than starting duplicate work.
