Archiving and Deleting Projects

Archiving is the safest way to remove projects from your active workspace without losing them.

It is useful when you want to keep the Projects page clean, reduce clutter, or free up room under active project limits while still keeping old work available.

Find and restore an archived project

  1. Go to the Projects dashboard for the workspace where the project was created.
  2. In the Projects toolbar, select Archived projects (the archive icon). This opens the Archived projects dialog.
  3. Search or browse for the project.
  4. Open that project's action menu (the three-dot menu) and select Restore.
  5. The project returns to the active Projects list, where it can be opened and edited normally.

The app has an Archived projects view. Do not look for a Trash, Deleted, or Recently deleted section: those are not the project-recovery workflow documented here.

If a project does not appear in the archive, first make sure the user has selected the workspace where it was created. An archive check does not prove that a project was deleted or that the user lacks access.

Archive vs delete

These actions are not the same.

Archive

Archiving removes a project from your active list but keeps it available for later.

Use archive when:

  • the project is finished for now
  • you want to reduce dashboard clutter
  • you may need the project again later
  • you need to free up active project capacity without permanently removing work

Unarchive

Unarchiving restores the project to your active list so you can work on it normally again.

Delete

Deleting a project is the permanent option.

Use delete only when you are sure you no longer need that project. In most workflows, archive should be the default choice before delete.

If the archived list is empty

Confirm that you are in the same workspace where the project was created. If the project is still missing after checking Archived projects, offer human support rather than guessing that it was moved to another hidden location.

Practical rule of thumb

If you might need the project again, archive it.

If you are certain the project should be removed permanently, delete it.
