Image & Video
This section covers the visual production side of Ciaro: creating still images, refining them, keeping a consistent look, and then turning approved shots into video.
The usual order of work
In most workflows, video comes after image work.
A common sequence is:
- pick Art direction for the project look (Story Wizard or Create View)
- prepare reference images for recurring characters, props, and locations (Entity Builder, then Create View slots — see Reference-based generation)
- create or refine the still image for the shot
- create the first video from that shot in Board, Playground, or the Video tab
- review the result
- move into the Video tab when you want timeline placement, pacing, version review, or export work
- modify or finish the clip only after the base result exists
- optionally continue in Premiere Pro with Ciaro Pro for Premiere, or export EDL/XML from the Video tab
Where video creation can start
Ciaro supports several real entry points for the first video generation pass:
- Video timeline clip: right-click an image clip, or use the visible Create Video control on the clip.
- Video tab Create Video button: click the top-right Create Video button, choose the target shot, place the new clip on the timeline, then generate.
- Create Shot modal in Board or Playground: open a shot, switch the modal to Video, set the model and prompt, and generate directly for that shot.
- Ciaro Pro for Premiere: generate video (and images/audio) from the Premiere panel after you connect and choose a story folder. See Ciaro Pro for Premiere.
What happens in the Video tab
The Video tab is where video creation connects to timeline placement and follow-up video work.
There you can:
- create a new video from a shot image or supported references
- place new video work on the timeline
- review clip versions
- modify an existing clip
- run follow-up operations such as upscale, reframe, extend, audio, or lipsync when supported
- preview the result in sequence
What this section explains
The articles here cover:
- Reference-based generation — how slots and chips keep people and objects consistent
- how to create a new video from a timeline clip
- how to use the Production Create Video button
- how Board and Playground can create video through the Create Shot modal
- how the video creation workspace works once you open it
- how to modify an existing clip

What changes from shot to shot
The available actions can change depending on whether a shot has:
- no video yet
- a selected image or supported reference media
- a completed video already
- a source clip that supports follow-up operations for the selected model family
