Manual Scene and Shot Creation

Manual creation is the best approach when you want direct control over story structure instead of relying on automatic scene or shot generation.

Manual Scene and Shot Creation

Manual creation is the best approach when you want direct control over story structure instead of relying on automatic scene or shot generation.

When manual creation is useful

Manual scenes and shots are especially helpful when:

  • you already know the structure you want
  • the story is highly specific or visually planned
  • AI-generated structure needs correction or replacement
  • you want tighter pacing control from the start

Adding scenes

In Board view, you can add scenes manually and define what each scene covers.

A good scene entry usually includes:

  • a clear scene name
  • the main situation or action
  • enough information to understand what belongs inside that scene

Adding shots

Inside a scene, you can add shots one by one.

A strong shot usually describes what the camera sees, such as:

  • framing
  • subject position
  • key action
  • important props or visual elements

For example, a shot description like "Close-up of Sarah's worried face as she looks toward the door" is much more useful than a vague note like "Sarah in room."

Organizing the result

Once scenes and shots exist, you can refine them by:

  • reordering scenes or shots
  • splitting scenes that are too broad
  • tightening descriptions for clarity
  • using AI only where it helps rather than for the entire structure

Best workflow

Manual creation works well when you want authorship and control first, with AI used later for support rather than for initial structure.
