Asset Manager

Asset Manager is the file cabinet for your production. It holds characters, props, locations (backgrounds), visual styles, generated images, video, and audio so you can find them and reuse them instead of hunting around the Board.

Open it with A, or the folder control in the header.

What it is good for

  • Seeing everything attached to this story (this episode or project)
  • Browsing the workspace library — the shared cast, props, locations, and looks you keep for the whole show
  • Dragging a portrait, prop, or location into Create View as a reference
  • Opening Entity Builder to finish a character, prop, background, or style

This is especially valuable on Studio, where several people work in the same workspace and the same hero, car, apartment, or house look needs to return in the next episode.

Story vs the workspace library

When Asset Manager is open inside a story, a switch at the top has two labels:

  • Story — only what is linked to this episode: this board’s characters, props, locations, and media.
  • Team — the full workspace library. That includes assets from other stories in this workspace, plus reusable characters, props, backgrounds, and styles that are not limited to one episode.

The second tab is named Team in the app. Think of it as this workspace’s shared library, not a separate product. Everyone invited to this workspace can use that library (within what they are allowed to edit).

If you only see this episode’s folders, switch from Story to Team.

Folders you will use most

Typical library folders include:

  • Characters — people and creatures you want to recognize again
  • Props — objects that must stay the same (a car, a product, a weapon)
  • Backgrounds — locations you reuse
  • Styles — custom visual looks (see Art Direction and Creating your own look)
  • Stories — each project’s generated images, video, and audio

Using assets in a story

Having a character in the workspace library does not automatically put them on every board. Add them to the episode when you need them:

  1. Open the story on the Board (Playground).
  2. In the story inspector, open Characters, Props, Backgrounds, or Styles.
  3. Use New to create something for this story (it also lives in the workspace library), or From team library / add from library to bring in someone or something you already built.

Removing a character from this story unlinks them from the episode. They stay in the workspace library for the next episode unless you delete them from the library itself.

Drag and drop

From Asset Manager you can drag images into Create View reference slots, the Board, and other drop targets. That is the everyday way to put a known face or object into a shot.

Editing from Asset Manager

To change a character’s portrait or a style’s look plate, open it (often via Entity Builder). Generating new entity images is tied to a story that already uses that asset. Browse-only library views stay read-only so you do not accidentally rewrite a shared hero from the wrong episode.

Switching workspaces

The header Select workspace control changes which production you are in. Projects and the shared library you see belong to that workspace. Switch workspaces to work on another show or client — do not expect Show A’s cast to appear inside Show B unless you added those assets there.
