Reusing cast and looks across episodes

A series, a branded campaign, or a school show does not start from zero every week. Studio is built for that: one workspace, many stories (episodes or projects), and a shared library of recurring characters, props, locations, and visual styles.

The idea

Build the asset once. Link it into episode 2, 3, and 4 instead of recreating it.

Why this is a Studio workflow

Studio is the plan for production teams: shared libraries, seats for collaborators, and workspaces you can switch between (different shows or clients).

Solo Pro is excellent for finishing one film. The moment several people need the same cast and look across episodes, Studio (workspaces + library + seats) is the setup that matches the work.

Typical week-to-week flow

1. Stay in the same workspace (header: Select workspace).
2. Create a new story for the new episode.
3. Open Asset Manager (A) and switch to Team to see the workspace library — or use the Board inspector From team library actions.
4. Add the recurring characters, props, locations, and the same custom style to this story.
5. Set Art direction to that style so new frames match last week’s look.
6. Generate this episode’s shots. The library still holds last episode’s work.

What stays consistent vs what is new

• Consistent: faces, outfits you saved, signature props, locations, the project look.
• New each episode: this week’s script, scenes, shot list, and newly generated storyboard frames.

Unlinking an asset from one story does not delete it from the library. Deleting from the library removes it for the workspace — only do that when the asset should never return.

Working with other people

Invite collaborators onto seats so they can open the same workspace (see Workspaces, seats, and people). They will see the same library and the same projects. You can limit which parts of a project they can use (Script, Concept, Board, Video).

If someone cannot find last episode’s hero:

• Confirm they are in the same workspace in the header.
• In Asset Manager, switch from Story to Team.
• Confirm the character was added to this episode from the library, not only sitting unused in the library.

Different shows or clients

Use a separate workspace per show or client when the cast and files should not mix. Switch workspaces in the header. The library does not silently merge across workspaces.
