Edit Mode

Edit Mode is the unified tool for modifying existing images. It combines three capabilities in one tab: text-based editing, paint-to-inpaint, and camera transform controls. You need a generated image before you can use Edit Mode.

Text-Based Editing

Describe the change you want in the prompt and generate. The AI modifies the image while preserving context.

Examples:

  • "Make the background a rainy cityscape"
  • "Change the character's jacket to red"
  • "Add warm sunset lighting"
  • "Remove the table in the foreground"

Use the same current image models as Generate (for example FLUX2 or Nano Banana). Keep character and prop reference images in slots when identity must stay locked while you edit.

Paint to Inpaint

Paint directly on the image to mark areas you want to regenerate. The settings panel on the left provides:

  • Brush Color: Black, Gray, or White
  • Paint / Erase toggle: Switch between adding and removing mask areas
  • Brush Size: Adjustable from 1 to 50 pixels
  • Clear Paint: Remove all painted areas

Write a prompt describing what should appear in the painted area, then generate. The AI only changes what you painted.

Transform Controls

Use the sliders in the settings panel to transform the camera perspective of your image:

  • Rotation (-180° to +180°): Rotate the camera view around the scene
  • Zoom Level (50% to 150%): Below 100% zooms out and generates new content around the edges (outpaint). Above 100% crops in and upscales.
  • Move Forward (0 to 10): Push the camera forward into the scene for close-up framing
  • Vertical Tilt (-1 to +1): -1 is bird's eye view (looking down), 0 is level, +1 is worm's eye view (looking up)

These transforms can be combined: rotation + tilt + move forward work together. Zoom is separate — adjusting zoom resets the other sliders, and vice versa.

Important: Mutual Exclusivity

  • Paint and Transform cannot be used at the same time. If you paint on the image, the transform sliders are disabled. If you use the sliders, painting is disabled.
  • Use Reset All Transforms to clear sliders and return to painting.
  • Painting clears all active transforms automatically.

Typical Workflow

  1. Generate an image in Image mode
  2. Switch to Edit
  3. Either: write an edit prompt (text edit), paint on areas to change (inpaint), or adjust the transform sliders (reframe/zoom/rotate)
  4. Generate to apply the edit
  5. Repeat as needed — each edit builds on the previous result
