Understanding Seeds and the Fix Seed Control

Some generation surfaces in Ciaro expose a seed (and in places a Fix Seed control). This article is the assistant's grounded reference for explaining it.

What a seed does

A seed is a starting value used by the generation model. Keeping a seed allows a generator to be more reproducible:

  • with the same prompt, references, settings, and seed, the model tends to produce a similar composition
  • changing the seed is one way to get a different variation of the same prompt

What a seed does NOT do

A fixed seed does not guarantee identical output. Generation is stochastic, so even with the same seed you can get close-but-not-identical results - especially for fine details like faces, hands, or small textures.

Guidance across surfaces

  • Seed behavior and whether a Fix Seed control exists can vary by generation surface (image generation, video/animatic, the voice designer).
  • If the user asks what a specific seed/Fix Seed button means but the exact surface is unclear (image vs video vs voice), ask which surface they're looking at or give the general definition above and note that specifics can vary by tool.
  • Do not claim a seed produces a clone, guarantees a face, or that any given surface exposes a seed control if that is not documented.
  • Useful framing: "Fix Seed" helps keep a generation more stable across retries; it does not make two different prompts identical.
