Video Modifications
Once a shot already has a completed video, Ciaro can show a second layer of video tools: follow-up operations that work from the existing clip instead of creating the first clip from a still image.
How to open modify workflows
Modify-related actions usually appear after a clip already exists.
Common entry points include:
- the clip right-click menu on the timeline
- the visible actions for a selected video in the Video tab
- the video overview actions for a shot that already has a completed video
If no completed video exists yet, the primary action is usually Create Video instead.
Follow-up actions you may see
Depending on the source clip and the selected model family, the modify area can expose operations such as:
- Modify Video
- Upscale
- Reframe
- Extend
- Add Audio
- LipSync
- interpolation or transition-style generation in supported cases
Not every clip supports every option.
How Modify Video works
Modify Video uses an existing clip as the starting point and generates a changed version from it.
Instead of creating motion from a still image, it works from the motion and structure that already exist in the source video.
This makes it useful when you want a new version of the clip without starting over from scratch.
When video-to-video modify is useful
Use Modify Video when:
- the clip motion is useful but the visual treatment needs to change
- the result is close, but not quite right
- you want a stronger or softer reinterpretation of the same source clip
- you want another version without rebuilding the whole clip from scratch
Upscale
Upscale is used when the video already works and you want a higher-resolution finishing pass.
This is usually a late-stage step, not something to do before you are happy with the clip itself.
Reframe
Reframe is used when you want to adapt a finished clip to a different delivery shape, such as a different aspect ratio.
This is useful when the same content needs to fit multiple formats.
Model compatibility
The available modify actions depend heavily on how the original video was created.
Some model families support a much richer set of follow-up operations than others. That means:
- a clip may play perfectly but still not support every modify action
- some operations only appear for certain source models
- some source videos are much more limited in what can be done after generation
If you do not see an option such as modify, upscale, or reframe on a specific clip, the most common reason is compatibility rather than a UI bug.
Working with versions
Most modify actions create a new derived result rather than replacing the original clip.
This lets you compare versions and keep the earlier result as a reference.
A reliable workflow
- create the best base clip you can first
- review it in the Video tab
- open the follow-up operation that matches the problem
- use modify when you want a new version from the existing clip
- leave upscale until the clip is already approved
