How Video Creation Works
If you want to turn storyboard shots into video, Ciaro now gives you more than one valid starting point.
You can create video from the Video timeline, from the top-right Create Video button in the Video tab, or directly inside the Create Shot modal in Board or Playground.
The basic rule
A shot usually needs usable visual source material first.
That can be a selected shot image, a start frame, start/end frames, or supported reference media depending on the selected video model. The source material anchors the first video generation pass.
Video tab timeline workflow
Use this when you want the generated video to belong to a specific timeline clip position.
- Open the project in the Video tab.
- Find the shot image you want to animate.
- Put the image on the timeline or select an existing image clip.
- Right-click the clip, or use the clip's visible Create Video control.
- Choose a model.
- Set duration, resolution, prompt, and references.
- Generate and review the clip in sequence.

Use this when you want to start video creation from Production without first opening a clip context menu.
- Open the Video tab.
- Click Create Video near the top-right of the workspace.
- Choose or confirm the target shot.
- Place the new clip on the timeline when the create workflow asks for placement.
- Choose the model and settings.
- Generate the clip.
This route opens the Video tab's create-video mode. For normal timeline video creation, generation needs a placement on the timeline.
Board and Playground workflow
Use this when you are still working on a storyboard shot and do not need to place the clip on the Video timeline first.
- Open a shot in Board or Playground.
- Open the Create Shot modal.
- Switch from image mode to Video.
- Choose the video model and settings.
- Write or refine the motion prompt.
- Add supported references if needed.
- Generate the video for that shot.
If the shot already has a selected image and the model supports it, Ciaro can use that image as the start frame.
If Create Video does not appear or cannot run
The most common reasons are:
- the shot does not have usable visual source material yet
- Video tab create mode still needs the new clip to be placed on the timeline
- the selected clip already has a completed video, so the app is showing Modify or another follow-up action instead
- the selected model does not support the reference combination you chose
- the operation is not available on your current account or selected source
After the first video exists
Once the shot already has a completed clip, the workflow usually shifts to modifying or finishing the existing video instead of creating the first one again.
That is where actions like Modify, Upscale, Reframe, Extend, Add audio, and Lipsync become relevant.
Prompt advice
For video prompts, stay concrete.
The strongest prompts usually focus on:
- what the subject does
- how the motion feels
- how the camera moves
That usually works better than a long descriptive paragraph.
A simple way to work
Use Board or Playground when you want to create video while designing an individual shot.
Use the Video tab when you want to create video in the context of the timeline, clip placement, pacing, and review.
